Day 1: |
|
Up on your arrival in Quito our guide will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to our hostel Fuente de Piedra in Quito where you will be warmly welcomed with a drink. After checking in your guide will give you a short briefing about the next day's activities. Have a good rest! |

Day 2: |
|
In the morning you will enjoy a tasteful breakfast. Afterwards our guide will take you for a city tour in Quito to visit the Plaza de La Independencia, the San Francisco Church followed by a tour to the Middle of the World where you will be able to put your legs one in each hemisphere! Return to Fuente de Piedra for relaxing . |

Day 3: |
In the morning, after breakfast, we'll drive north to the city of Cayambe and then continuing to the city of Otavalo, home of the famous Otavalo Indians. Enjoy afterwards the evening in hostel Fuente de Piedra.

Day 4: |
|
After breakfast your guide will take you for an unforgettable trip to the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. The drive takes you first up to the beautiful highlands of Papallacta from where, when the weather permits it, we can have an amazing view of the Antisana Volcano. Then we continue our drive down to the volcanic valley of Papallacta where we will be accommodated in a great hot water springs resort, a nice place to enjoy the nature and the medicinal waters of this area. |

Day 5: |
After breakfast in the resort, our morning drive will take you first to the Guacamayos Range from where we can have a great view of the vast upper basin of the mysterious jungle of the Amazonas River.
We will continue east towards the city of Tena from where we transport you to the small Indigenous village of Santa Rosa. A 30 minutes navigation downstream along the Napo River by canoe will take us to the Yacuma Lodge where we arrive early in the afternoon and where you will be welcomed by a typical cold drink and will have time to settle in the lodge's typical Quechua bungalows for two people.

After lunch and a short rest we will go, in the company of one of our expert's Indian guides, by canoe to the Birds Island where we make a hike in the forest around the Laguna Escondida (Hidden Lagoon), an special place where we can observe different species of jungle birds: river Garzas (great egret), Great Blue Heron, King fisher, Garrapatero, Oropendolas, ... Later on we canoe back to the lodge for a well deserved dinner. Afterwards when the and weather permits it, we will go for a night canoe ride with a silent navigation on the nearby lagoon and looking for wildlife. |

Day 6: |
After breakfast in the lodge, we'll begin a 3-4 hour trek through the deep primary rainforest. Along the way an indigenous guide will show us the many species of plants and trees and describe their medicinal purposes and uses. With luck we perhaps will see monkeys and birds such as oropendolas and parrots. Return to the lodge for lunch and after a short rest we will make a walk in the forest to observe the different kind of trees cultivated by the locals: bananas, papaya tree, pineapple, orange trees, sugar cane, etc. Then we continue to the small settlement where we can observe (and buy) pottery made by the locals. Later on we continue our walk for a visit to the Quechua indigenous community of Chontayacu, where you will have the opportunity to learn about local customs and the way of life of the native people of the jungle. Later in the afternoon return to the lodge for dinner and a good nights rest. |

Day 7: |
In the morning, we'll start a 3 hours walk into the primary rainforest. Crossing small streams and different kind of terrains with several species of trees and plants we will arrive to the main objective of this day: la Cueva de los Tutapishco (Amazon Bats (Saccopteryx bilineata) Cave). This is a special place and considered by the locals as a sacred place where the shamans (medicine man) come to enter in contact with the spirits.
We then continue our walk for about 2 hours until we meet our canoes on the shores of the Napo River. We will canoe back to the lodge for lunch followed by a short rest. In the afternoon we go for a navigation in the Napo River where we will you will have the rare opportunity to try panning for gold on the shores of the river.
Later on we'll also take you to a perfect spot for bathing beside one of the sandy shores of the Napo or Chontayacu Rivers. Then we return to the lodge late in the afternoon and after dinner we invite you to have a drink at our informal social farewell evening.

Day 8: |
|
After breakfast we say goodbye to our Indian friends and we'll begin our return journey along the Napo River to Santa Rosa Village from where we take our transportation to the city of Puyo and then to Baños where you will stay in a nice resort. |

Day 9: |
|
Morning transfer to the beautiful highlands of the high Mount Chimborazo the largest and highest mountain in Ecuador. Enjoy the view of the gracious vicunas and the spectacular view of the mountain which was for a long time considered the highest in the world (I fact measured from the centre of the earth it is the highest mountain on the terrestrial globe!). Then passing several small villages of the Andes we continue our drive back to Quito and stay overnight in hostel Fuente de Piedra. |

Day 11: |
|
Transfer to the airport and flight back home or continuation of your program. |
